The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) invites the community to create art from waste and recycling materials for its 12th Annual Recycled Art Contest.
The contest requires participants to create unique pieces of art from materials that would normally be discarded in trash or recycling bins like packaging foam, cardboard, soda can tabs, and more. Entries can be submitted to participating libraries between October 1 and 31.
"The Recycled Art Contest is a fun way to think differently about the materials we use and throw away," said ACUA President Matthew DeNafo. "Every year, we’re impressed by the creative ways participants give these materials a second life."
The contest is open to all ages, and winners will be selected in the following categories: 8 and under, 9 to 13, 14 to 17 and 18 and up, and Group.
Winners will receive a cash prize and recognition at ACUA’s America Recycles Day on Saturday, November 21, at the ACUA Recycling Center in Egg Harbor Township. All artwork entered in the contest will be featured during this family-friendly event.
Artists must be residents of Atlantic County.
Artwork must have an entry form securely attached.
Entries must be submitted to a participating library between October 1-31. These include: the Atlantic County Library System branches in Absecon, Brigantine, Egg Harbor City, Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township, Hamilton Township, Hammonton, Pleasantville, Somers Point and Ventnor; Stockton University's Richard E. Bjork Library (Galloway Campus); Atlantic Cape Community College Libraries (Mays Landing and Atlantic City Campuses), the Linwood Public Library, the Otto Bruyns Public Library of Northfield, and the Atlantic City Free Public Library.
