      New Jersey isn’t just about increasing taxes and finding new taxes and fees to feed its uncontrolled appetite for revenue. Government in this state is also about holding onto all of its existing taxes, even if their expiration was once envisioned.

        In New Jersey, authorities operate independently from the governing bodies that create them. So while the governing body is ultimately responsible for the authority, it doesn’t oversee the authority’s operations and leaves day-to-day responsibility for them to authority officials.

        For three years, Mayor Patrick Rosenello has led the city of North Wildwood in a slow motion boxing match against the state Department of Environmental Protection over how best to manage the beach.

        The large increase in Atlantic City Expressway tolls enacted in 2020 was hard to take. A significant amount of the money was to start work on a light rail line between Cumberland and Camden counties. And at the same time tolls were set to automatically increase annually thereafter, without end.
