Ewing, N.J. – Stockton University placed third out of eight teams that scored in the NJAC Championships, which were hosted by The College of New Jersey. Stockton posted a team score of 101 and edged Ramapo by one point for the third spot behind TCNJ and Rowan.
James Clauson (Haddon Twp./Haddon Twp.) led the Ospreys with a time of 26:05.4 for 13th place and an NJAC Second Team accolade in his freshman year. Clauson passed a Ramapo runner in the final 100 meters, and that proved to be the difference in Stockton finishing third by one point.
Sam Szczepanski (Chester/Mendham) placed 20th with a time of 26:25.1 and Patrick Storti (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) came in three seconds later at 26:28.4 for 22nd place.
Conner Auge (Williamstown/GCIT) finished 32nd with a time of 27:02.3 and freshman Jacob Kroposky (Eatontown/Monmouth) was 34th at 27:09.4.
Clauson, Storti, Auge, Kroposky and Stockton's first three non-scoring runners all recorded personal bests. The Ospreys trailed Ramapo by 14 points entering the final two kilometers and made up enough ground to pass the Roadrunners in the team standings.
Stockton will compete at the NCAA Regionals in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on November 14.
