Galloway, N.J. – A pair of Stockton University student-athletes earned NJAC weekly awards in their respective sports for the week of October 5-11. Freshman Stella Devlin (Millville/St. Joseph's Academy) was named NJAC Rookie of the Week in field hockey for the second time this season.
Sophomore Calli Miller (Hampstead, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) was chosen NJAC Defensive Player of the Week in volleyball, receiving her first career weekly award.
Devlin continued her outstanding rookie season with her first career hat trick and an assist for seven points in a 5-2 victory over New Paltz on Saturday. Despite missing three games due to injury, the freshman tops the team with eight goals and stands tied for the team lead with 20 points.
Devlin is fourth in the NJAC in goals, tied for fourth in points and tied for eighth in assists (4). She also has one defensive save this season.
Miller had a breakout performance against Montclair State in Stockton's only match last week. The sophomore set career highs with 13 kills and seven blocks in a 3-2 victory over the Red Hawks. Her seven blocks are tied for the second most by an NJAC player in a match this season.
Miller currently ranks sixth in the league in blocks at 0.81 per set and stands seventh in the NJAC with a .287 hitting percentage.
The Stockton field hockey team is off until Saturday when the Ospreys will host Ramapo College at 11:00 a.m.
The Osprey volleyball team will play at Rowan University tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m., then host New Paltz and Swarthmore in a tri-match on Saturday that starts at 3:00 p.m.
