The Atlantic County Animal Shelter is anxious to help you find your Fido during Adopt-A-Dog Month and experience the rewards of responsible pet ownership.
Throughout the month of October, the shelter is reducing adoption fees of all dogs in its care from $110 to $55, which includes mandatory sterilization, age-appropriate vaccinations, diagnostic testing, a microchip and free veterinary consultation in addition to free obedience classes.
Adopt-A-Dog Month was established in 1981 by the American Humane Association to help connect deserving dogs with loving families.
"Help give these dogs a second chance," stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. "My family has rescued 9 dogs and has never been disappointed. These loyal companions enhance our quality of life and may add years to our lives."
The shelter is located at 240 Old Turnpike Road in Pleasantville and is open to the public 1-4 pm each day. Appointments are not necessary.
The shelter is also seeking volunteers to help walk and socialize dogs. Volunteers are also needed to foster dogs awaiting adoption. If interested call (609) 485-2345 for more information.
