ATLANTIC CITY – The Atlantic City Public Schools Early Childhood Department and the Atlantic City Youth Services Department for the City of Atlantic City collaborated to hold a Preschool Rodeo.
Students from across the district assembled in the Pennsylvania Avenue School back parking lot on Friday, May 29, 2026, for a unique experience filled with educational entertainment, including face painting, inflatables and community resources designed to benefit entire families. Many donned western wear to celebrate the rodeo theme.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. La’Quetta S. Small said the rodeo gave students a chance to celebrate all of the accomplishments of the year and allowed parents to share in the joy.
“This event is a wonderful way to celebrate the growth and achievements of our youngest learners,” Dr. Small said.

“Throughout the school year, our preschool students have developed academically, socially and emotionally, and today gives them an opportunity to have fun, build positive memories and enjoy a special experience with their families. We are grateful for our partnership with the City of Atlantic City Youth Services Department and everyone who helped make this event possible.”
City of Atlantic City Director of Youth Services Christina Noble said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting children and families both inside and outside the classroom.
“Partnership is priority. We can't affect as many kids as we would like to without partnering with the community,” Noble said. “The Atlantic City Board of Education is one of biggest partners. They have direct access to the children so why not collaborate to reach as many children as we can.”
Noble said the event provided parents and students alike with a unique experience that they might not otherwise enjoy.
"We know that the rodeo theme is in, with all of the boots on the ground events," Noble said. "We thought it would be cute to do this for the preschoolers and their families."
Peyton Caldwell of the Early Childhood Department said the event showed the district's appreciation for the parents who have supported their children all year long.
"Parents have showed up and help out during the school year," Caldwell said. "This is just a big thank you for what they've done."
In addition to the traditional entertainment activities, the district provided a petting zoo complete with goats, chickens, horses and other barnyard animals.
Students eagerly interacted with the animals, posed for photographs and participated in a variety of hands-on activities throughout the afternoon that extended into the early evening. Parents also had the opportunity to visit information tables hosted by community organizations offering educational, health and family support services.
The event served as both a year-end celebration and a community outreach effort, bringing together educators, city officials, families and local organizations in support of Atlantic City’s youngest students.
As the school year draws to a close, district leaders said events such as the Preschool Rodeo help create positive educational experiences that encourage family engagement and reinforce the importance of early childhood learning.
The event concluded with smiles, laughter and lasting memories as students enjoyed one final celebration before preparing for their summer break.
