There’s an epidemic of substance abuse in this country, and finding effective treatment can be challenging — especially for people who can’t take time off from work for a residential rehab program.
Greenbranch Recovery in Egg Harbor, New Jersey, has a remarkable record of successful addiction treatment, and their outpatient programs can be adapted to your work schedule. Treatment is covered by most health insurances.
These intensive programs are particularly suited to people whose addiction is related to high-stress jobs, from first responders who must cope with constant life-and-death emergencies to business professionals under relentless pressure to perform. They are also experts at treating military veterans.
Greenbranch recently launched their First Responders Addiction Treatment Program created for — and designed with — police officers, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics. Additional programs for teachers and medical professionals are now being developed.
Highly personalized treatment
Each person’s treatment at Greenbranch is designed specifically for their unique needs. Two people may be abusing the same substance, but each individual’s situation is different.
“Nine times out of ten, addiction stems from an underlying condition,” said Lori McCline, regional program director. “So while we’re treating the addiction, we’re also treating the anxiety or the depression that caused them to self-medicate with drugs or alcohol.”
Greenbranch’s comprehensive approach includes individual and group therapy, as well as family therapy to heal relationships that may have contributed to — or been impacted by — the addiction. They also provide medication-assisted treatment.
Flexible scheduling, 24/7 help and privacy
Flexible scheduling means that you can continue working while you’re in treatment, and in times of crisis, help is available almost 24 hours a day, every day.
This is especially important for first responders who might need immediate Critical Incident Stress Management after an emotionally tough on-the-job experience.
“If it’s 2 a.m. and someone who’s just left a shooting is really struggling emotionally, we will take that call and help them over the phone, then meet with them first thing in the morning,” said program director Leslie Sanders.
Privacy is another concern for many clients, and those who do not want to be seen at Greenbranch can have therapy with telehealth or online sessions. For those who need even tighter security, like undercover police, in-person counseling can take place at an off-site location.
A whole-person approach
Greenbranch takes a whole-person approach to treating addiction, so learning to relieve tension, to relax and enjoy life without drugs or alcohol, is another important part of treatment.
Clients, for example, are encouraged to take advantage of the on-site gym and personal trainer.
“Exercise has great therapeutic value, but a private gym isn’t always right for some people,” said Sanders. “A detective, for example, might run into a person they arrested, or a doctor someone they treated, so they’re surrounded by work even in their off hours. Our gym can be their safe space.”
Clients also get great benefit from spending time in the tranquil Zen room.
“There’s a rock waterfall and therapeutic music, and you can just shut the door and be by yourself,” said McCline. “It’s a quiet place to let your mind wander and be worry-free for a while.”
This whole-person approach — which also includes breathing and meditation techniques, art and music therapy, and massage — is key to helping people maintain lifelong sobriety.
After graduation from Greenbranch, ongoing therapy is available with the Relapse Prevention Program.
