Three locals qualify for the state girls wrestling tournament

Cedar Creek High School freshman Riley Lerner pins Emma Coesfield of Delsea Regional in 1 minute, 46 seconds in the 114-pound semifinal bout in the South Region girls wrestling tournament at Williamstown High School. Lerner finished second and advances to the state tournament next Saturday.

The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association’s girls state wrestling champions are scheduled for Saturday at Phillipsburg High School.

The event will be broken into two sessions with 100 to 135 weight classes starting at 10 a.m. and the 143 to 215 weight classes starting at 4 p.m.

No fans are permitted at the event.
