The football game between Pleasantville and Oakcrest high schools has been rescheduled to 10 a.m. Saturday due to threats that were made on social media, the Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District said Friday.
The district said playing the game Saturday will create a greater sense of security for athletes and families.
“We’ve heard rumors circulating this afternoon regarding conflicts at the game, and this move is being made out of an abundance of caution,” the district said in a statement Friday. “Your safety is our top priority, and we encourage everyone to stay calm and informed.”
Oakcrest is 4-2 and Pleasantville is 0-6. The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
