EDELSTEIN, LILLIAN - 98, passed away on Friday, April 10th at the Linwood Care Center. Born in New York City on May 4, 1916, where she graduated from Washington Irving High School and Parsons School of Design, studying patternmaking and worked for Simplicity Patterns. Lillian was a political activist in the Bronx in 1953 and played a big part in trying to prevent the Cross Bronx Expressway from destroying her neighborhood. Lillian was important enough to be invited to make several appearances in the movie "the World that Moses Built" which was included in the TV series "The American Experience." Eventually she and her husband moved to Framingham, MA where she worked at the Fabric Place till she was 80 years old. After her husband's passing, she relocated to Northfield, NJ where she was a lunch aid at her great granddaughters' school. She was also an active member of the Rosin Center in Atlantic City. She was meticulous in her appearance. She loved playing cards, sewing her own clothes, playing piano and enjoying her family. In tribute to her great sense of humor she was often heard saying "I always took good care of my husband's wife" when asked how she maintained her youthfulness. She is predeceased by her husband Sam, sister Selma, brother Bob and grandson Adam Hirschfeld. Survived by her 2 daughters: Carol (Norman) Hirschfeld, Janet (Edward) Weiner, grandchildren, Cindy (Steven), Alisse (David), Scott (Heather), Jessica (Jim) and 5 great-grandchildren Steffanie, Aden, Joshua, Rebecca and Zachary.
