ADAMS, CHARLES THOMAS "Tommy" - 54 of Egg Harbor Township passed away tragically on August 25th, 2014. Born on February 13th, 1960 in Somers Point, NJ. Raised in Margate, Tommy was a Sergeant on the Longport NJ Police Department. He also served as a volunteer of the Longport fire department for 36 years and was a Lieutenant and then Captain. Tommy was a Past Worshipful Master of Trinity Lodge #79. Tommy served as a State Delegate for the Longport PBA Local #363 and then as President; County conference chairman for Cape May and Atlantic Co.; 9th VP of the NJ State PBA Executive Board and was awarded NJ State PBA Member of the year in 2010. Tommy graduated in the 56th session of the Atlantic County Police Academy and began his career in 1993 at the Longport Police Department. He was promoted to Sergeant in June of 2010. Tommy was instrumental in the implementation of the police motorcycle unit. Tommy received many accolades and held many positions in his 21-year police career. His accolades included the patriot award, volunteer service award, the Police Academy graduate award for physical fitness, and multiple life saving awards. Tommy is survived by his loving wife and best friend Sarah (Spruill) Adams, Mother Charlotte Adams Carrelli and step father Fran Carrelli, brother Robert Adams (wife Missy), Sisters Roxanne Adams Webb, and Bonnie Wilson, in-laws Sharon & William Spruill, brother-in-law Michael Spruill (wife Jennifer), along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Predeceased by his father Robert (Roxy) Adams Jr., Grandparents Charlie and Mildred Purcell, Robert (Knox) Adams Sr., and Eunice Adams. Family and friends are invited to call this Saturday morning August 30th from 9:00 am – 11:30 at Greentree Church 125 School House Rd. Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234 followed by Services. Burial at Laurel Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Longport PBA Local 363 and/or Longport Volunteer Fire Department at 2305 Atlantic Avenue, Longport, NJ 08403.
