Three New York City residents were hospitalized Sunday morning after their car overturned onto the shoulder of the Garden State Parkway in Lacey Township.

Police said Mark Coppa, of Staten Island, N.Y., drove off the northbound side of the highway and the car flipped shortly before 8 a.m. at milepost 72.3.

Lacey Township EMS transported Coppa to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. Passengers Richard Taur and Yaacov Haim, both also of Staten Island, were taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center and Community Medical Center in Toms River, respectively.

Police said all injuries were nonlife threatening.

Authorities believe alcohol may have been involved in the crash, but charges are pending further investigation.
