U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Tuesday that China couldn't continue "feeding the flames of the fire that Russia has started" while also releasing peace proposals to the conflict in Ukraine. He said that if China provided any "lethal material support", it would affect its relationship with the United States and other countries. His comments came during a visit to Kazakhstan on Tuesday for a series of meetings with top diplomats of Central Asian nations as tensions soar over Russia’s war in Ukraine. Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi also said that while his country's economy is "interconnected" with Ukraine and Russia, it will continue to "avoid any possibilities for evasion of sanctions by the Russian or even by any foreign companies." Blinken also held talks with other foreign ministers from the region. His visit to Astana and later this week to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, mark his first trip to Central Asia as secretary of state. It came just days after the anniversary the beginning of the conflict Ukraine, which has rattled the region.
