WILDWOOD — A Middle Township man was charged with stealing thousands of dollars from a home, police said.

Police arrested John Dyes, 52, after responding to a report of a “large quantity of U.S. currency” stolen from a residence last Thursday, authorities said.

The following day, officers pulled over a Ford Explorer for a traffic violation and recovered heroin and other drugs from the vehicle. The four occupants, including Dyes, were arrested, police said.

Several thousand dollars were later recovered from locations in Wildwood and West Wildwood, suspected of belonging to the victim, police said.

Dyes was charged with theft, and he and the other passengers were charged with multiple drug offenses. Dyes was taken to the Cape May County jail.
