Local ceremonies to commemorate 9/11 anniversary

Here are some of the local ceremonies to mark the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

On Wednesday, Absecon will hold its annual 9-11 Tribute at 6 p.m. in the Public Safety Park next to the Absecon Firehouse.

The following events will all take place on Thursday, Sept. 11.

Atlantic County

Atlantic City: Annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony, 10 a.m. at the 9/11 Memorial Wall at the Atlantic City Boardwalk at Jackson Avenue.

Egg Harbor City: Memorial service, 5 p.m., at City Hall, 500 London Ave. at 5 p.m. Commander Tom Messina of the American Legion Rudolph Elmer Post 158 will dedicate a piece of the World Trade Center, which will be installed on the Campe Street side of City Hall.

Hamilton Township: 9-11 Ceremony, 7 p.m., in War Memorial Park, located along Main Street.

Margate: A Remembrance 9/11/2001, 10 a.m., Fire Department Station 1, Ventnor and Washington avenues.

Pleasantville: Student Assembly at Washington Avenue School, 10 a.m.

Somers Point: Patriot Day Service, 8:30 a.m., Patriot Park, Bethel Road and Veteran Way, Somers Point. 609-412-7769 or 609-487-6932.

Cape May County

Cape May: 9/11 Remembrance, 6:15 p.m., Kiwanis Club of Greater Cape May, Cape May Cove, at end of Promenade.

Cape May Court House: “A Moment of Remembrance,” 8:30 a.m., Superior Court of Atlantic and Cape May counties, Cape May County Courthouse, 9 N. Main St.

Cape May Court House: Patriot Day Memorial Ceremony, 5 p.m., Cape May County freeholders, William Sturm Administration Building, 4 Moore Road.

North Wildwood: 9/11 Memorial Service, 8:40 a.m., in front of 15th Street Volunteer Fire Company, 15th and Central avenues.

Ocean City: National September 11th Commemoration Ceremony, 7 p.m., Sixth Street firehouse.

Sea Isle City: Patriot Day Ceremony, 9 a.m., Veterans Park, JFK Boulevard and Landis Avenue.

Stone Harbor: Dedication of Freedom Park, 11 a.m., dedicating a piece of steel from the World Trade Center, Stone Harbor Fire House, 175 96th St.

Upper Township, ceremony, 10 a.m., Godfrey Memorial Park, Osprey Point.

Wildwood Crest: 9/11 Memorial Ceremoney, 5:30 p.m. Miami and New Jersey avenues, adjacent to Sunset Lake. Community and religious leaders to attend.

Cumberland County

Vineland: 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on the steps of City Hall at Seventh and Wood streets.
