Atlantic County Baseball League scores June 25-29

The Margate Hurricanes won 11-1 over Ventnor after five innings in an Atlantic County Baseball League game June 25.

Jared Lenko struck out eight and allowed a hit in five innings. Donnie Stone had two doubles and four RBIs for Margate (11-1). Jason Law had two doubles and Ed Charleton singled and doubled. Brandon Kaminsky hit a two-run single and Eric Fitzgerald had two RBIs and scored three runs. Dominick Boselli had the lone hit for Ventnor (2-10).

Northfield 5, Ocean City 0: Anthony Capasso had five strikeouts in six innings with just three hits to help Northfield (11-2). Sam Daggers singled twice with two walks and JJ Swentkowski doubled twice and drove in two. Ocean City’s (3-9) Robbie Wood singled and walked.

Hammonton 7, Margate Green Wave 2: Pete Berenato pitched had strikeouts in five innings for Hammonton. Brett Uhing had two hits and scored. For the Green Wave, PJ Neil singled and scored.

Absecon 2, Egg Harbor City 0: Mike Di Ianni threw a one-hitter for Absecon to beat Egg Harbor City. Ianni struck out six batters without allowing any walks.

Andrew and Chris Mormile, whom are brothers, singled and scored one run. Ethan Schuster also had an RBI for Absecon.

June 26

David Sidwell struck out nine for the Margate Green Wave in its 8-2 victory over Egg Harbor City.

The Green Wave’s Justin Michener went 3 for 3, while Antonio Caraballo went 2 for 4. Mike Bates reached base four times.

Egg Harbor City’s John Newman had two hits.

Margate improved to 7-7 while Egg Harbor City fell to 2-10.

June 27

Chase Williams hit a solo home run and had the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning Wednesday to lead Hammonton to a 3-2 victory over Northfield.

Rich Gianbrea took the win in relief pitching for three innings with two strikeouts.

Northfield’s Chris Caprio doubled and scored one run.

Egg Harbor City 6, Ocean City 2: Jon Newman went 2 for 2 with two RBIs for Egg Harbor City, while John Husta had two RBIs. Winning pitcher Derek Heritage struck out 10.

Nick Trifilletti went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Ocean City.

Margate Hurricanes 3, Margate Green Wave 0: Mike Adams threw a two-hitter and struck out 11 batters to help the Margate Hurricanes beat the Margate Green Wave.

The Hurricanes’ Dillon Mendall hit an RBI single in the first inning and Don Stone hit an RBI double in the fourth. The Green Wave’s Mike Bates and TJ Niel hit one single apiece. The Hurricanes improved to 11-1 and the Green Wave fell 7-8.

June 28

Ventnor’s Matt Lawler Jr. pitched a two-hitter to lead his team to a 1-0 win over visiting Hammonton.

Lawler went the distance and struck out 10 while walking three.

Ventnor (3-10) scored the game’s only run in the third inning.

Brian Glassford doubled and stole third before coming in on Phil Santa Maria’s sacrifice fly.

Hammonton pitcher Kevin Baxter gave up five hits in six innings, with eight strikeouts and four walks. Hammonton is 9-3.

Northfield 2, Margate Green Wave 0: Northfield pitcher Jared Kacso went five innings, allowed one hit with one walk and seven strikeouts, to get the win. Ethan Mesey worked the sixth inning, allowing no hits with one strikeout. Zach Filmore got the save, giving up one hit with one strikeout in the seventh. Northfield is 12-3.

Mike Desenzo brought in the winning run with a suicide squeeze for a single in the fifth inning which brought in JJ Swentkowski. Dom Lopez executed another suicide squeeze in the same inning and brought in pinch runner CJ Brown with the second run. For the Green Wave, Dante DiPalma went 2 for 3 with a double.

Absecon 14, Upper/OC 2: Jo Jo Rodriguez pitched a six-inning complete game, striking out nine while allowing two unearned runs for Absecon (11-2).

Anthony Cocuzza and Jimmy Versage hit home runs. Versage drove in four runs. Ray Keelan, Drew Roesch and Justin McFadden each scored twice.

June 29

The Margate Hurricanes beat Hammonton 10-0.

Johnny Malatesta threw a complete-game two-hitter for Margate in a six-inning game. Malatesta struck out six batters. Dillon Mendall had three hits and Doug Hilter had two hits with a three-run double for Margate. Monny Strickland also had two hits and a three-run home run. Charlie Law and Donnie Stone helped Margate total 13 hits. Margate improved to 12-1 and Hammonton fell to 9-4.

Absecon 6, Ventnor 5: Absecon beat out Ventnor 6-5 with Gio Concreran hitting a three-run homer. Matt Allen also hit a solo home run and John Bobson took the win with three innings pitched. No further information about the game was provided.
