Thousands of firefighters and hundreds of fire trucks, from antique pumpers to high-tech command vehicles, are expected to roll into the Wildwoods this weekend for the annual New Jersey State Firemen's Convention and Parade.

The convention brings paid and volunteer firefighters and life members from around the state together for meetings, seminars and business sessions Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 14-16 at the Wildwoods Convention Center on Burk Avenue and the boardwalk.

Fire trucks and firefighting apparatus from throughout the state will be displayed in the Wildwoods Convention Center parking lots Friday and Saturday, and merchandise vendors can be found across the street at Fox Park as part of the NJ Fire Expo presented by the Five Mile Beach Volunteer Firemen's Association.

The exposition is comprised of a several large tented areas where vendors of fire-related products display their wares, plus a four-block display of fire apparatus.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in the Convention Center, and all are welcome to donate blood. There will be fireworks 9 p.m. Friday on the beach at Pine Avenue.

The expo Saturday will be followed by the annual NJ State Firemen's Memorial Parade 2-6 p.m. Saturday along New Jersey Avenue, beginning at Cresse Avenue in Wildwood Crest and proceeding north to 20th Avenue in North Wildwood.

The parade will feature antique to modern fire trucks and rescue units, marching units, drum corps, pipe brigades, marching bands, comedy routines and more. Prizes will be awarded in dozens of categories at an awards ceremony to be held 8 p.m. at the Wildwoods Convention Center.
