Surf defeat Pride as Cox strikes out 12

NASHUA, N.H. - Atlantic City left-handed pitcher Adam Cox struck out 12 Wednesday and the Surf held on to beat the Nashua Pride 3-2 in a Can-Am Baseball League game before an announced crowd of 907 at Holman Stadium.

Cox went seven scoreless innings and walked three. He was lifted after Jack Joffrion got Nashua's first hit leading off the eighth.

Reliever Kyle George got only one out as the Pride scored two runs in the eighth. A.C.'s Walker Whitley came on in the eighth and went 1 innings to get the save. Nashua had only three hits in the game, and the Surf had five. More

ATLANTIC CITY - Third baseman Gil Zayas' first career home run in the fifth inning was enough to spoil Nashua pitcher Lance Stevens' no-hitter and tie the game, but the Surf lost 4-2 in the Can-Am League at Bernie Robbins Stadium.
