Fired assistant business administrator sues A.C. school district
By LYNDA COHEN Staff Writer, 609-272-7257
Published: Jul 04, 2008

ATLANTIC CITY - The city's business administrator is suing the school board, superintendent and others claiming she was fired from her former job for voicing concerns about illegal and inappropriate policies within the district.

Carol Fredericks - then the school district's assistant business administrator - raised questions about board policies and practices "which were knowingly and substantially aided and abetted by (Superintendent Fredrick) Nickles and (Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Thomas) Kirschling, some for their own personal interest, that she reasonably believed were contrary to New Jersey and Federal law," according to the suit.

In a 10-count complaint filed by her attorney, Fredericks lays out the severe problems she said were going on throughout the district, including unequal treatment of female employees, unlawful fiscal practices and cronyism.

"The illegal, discriminatory and improper policies and practices ... objected to by (Fredericks) ... were knowingly practiced, implemented and condoned by defendants board, Nickles and Kirschling," writes her attorney, John Donnelly. More
