Band Of The Week: Steve Brown and The Fallout
It may be the fallout of summer, but it's not the fallout of fun -- especially when Steve Brown comes to town. Steve Brown and The Fallout, the next band set to aid in your recovery during At The Shore's Recovery Sunday party at Bally's Atlantic City's Bikini Beach Bar, is all about bringing the most fun they can to the southern New Jersey shore.
"We are a rock 'n'roll party," says Steve Brown, lead vocalist and guitarist for the band. "Our shows cover a wide variety of high-energy, fun, party-rock tunes. Seriously - everything from Bon Jovi to Big & Rich to Van Halen and even some Neil Diamond. We always want to keep the ladies dancing."
Brown and his band are no strangers to fun times in New Jersey. The boys hail from the northern part of The Garden State.
"We love to play anywhere," Brown says. "But we just love the Jersey shore and really dig rocking Atlantic City."
The Fallout band members, who have been together for more than four years, are all big believers in staying true to their musical roots, and that shows by the vast array of bands they choose to cover - and do so well.
"I started playing guitar and singing after hearing KISS and Van Halen back in the day," Brown says. "I haven't stopped since. Music is my life. I live for it, and I love to play it more than anything else. And making people happy with music is the best."
As for The Fallout's longevity?
"We plan to keep rocking forever," Brown says.
Other musical influences that top the list for Steve Brown and The Fallout include Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, The Beatles, Cheap Trick, Def Leppard, Steve Ray Vaughan and Johnny Cash.
What They Play: "We do the tunes that everybody knows," Brown says. Steven Brown and The Fallout is known for playing oldies and newbies, but never anything you can't get down and dance to.
What They Sound Like: "I'd like to think The Fallout is like a cross between Poison, KC and The Sunshine Band, Van Halen, Green Day and Elvis -- if you can imagine that," Brown says.
Originals: Aside from playing with The Fallout, Brown also writes and records his original work with Stereo Fallout. "The Other Side," the latest CD from Stereo Fallout is available on iTunes and CDBaby.com for purchase.
Roster: Steve Brown, lead vocals and guitar; Terry Farley, drums; Patrick Sussman, bass and vocals.
Fun Facts: Farley enjoys fine champagne and caviar, while Sussman likes to paint nudes of famous women like Tina Turner and Judy Garland. Susman is also a chess champion.
Go See Them: 6 p.m. Sunday at Bally's Bikini Beach Bar in Atlantic City.
