Bar of the Week: Bally's Mountain Sports Bar

Bar Of The Week: Mountain Sports Bar

Round up all of your friends and bring 'em down to the Bally's Mountain Sports Bar where you'll feel like you're a part of the Wild West, only without the shoot outs. It's all fun and games - and some sports, too - at the Mountain Sports Bar.

Amanda Dunlap, Bar Operations Manager for Bally's, knows the ins and outs of running a successful casino bar. Key ingredients include a unique atmosphere, delicious and affordable food and drink, and top shelf customer service.

Bally's Mountain Sports Bar originally opened as a western-style bar in 1998, but this past year, it has gotten a make-over and now resembles a traditional sports bar.

"We really wanted the Mountain Bar to become a total sports bar, and that's what we've achieved in this past year," says Dunlap. "It's not just a country-western hang out anymore."

The sports theme really took off when the bar began bringing in sports legends for special appearances and meet and greets with fans - all free of charge.

"Recently, we've had Greg Luzinski and Shawn Landetta in for autograph signings," says Dunlap. "This week, we are bringing in Dave 'The Hammer' Schultz from the Flyers, and every other Friday we'll be featuring and ESPN Radio Broadcast from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. So keep your dials tuned to 950-AM!

Dunlap says it's no surprise to spot a celebrity other than the sports stars the bar brings to its guests. And that's not all, folks.

"We have bartop slots, live music, sports television, NFL games on all the plasma screens that surround the bar, and great drink specials," Dunlap says.

Here's another interesting aspect of the Mountain Sports Bar: since it's inside a casino, the crowd comes from across the nation, which is always thrilling at game time.

"We have guests come in, and they are all rooting for different teams," Dunlap says. "It's not unusual to have four different events being shown at one time, and some very…animated…guests engaging with each other."

If for no other reason, come for the staff. Dunlap assures that only the friendliest and best-skilled bartenders work at the Mountain Sports Bar.

"This bar really is where hometown meets big city," she explains. "We have George the Fisherman, Sports Buff Roger and Richie Rich - all great guys who get to know everyone's names."

Come see George, Roger, Richie Rich - oh, and Dave 'The Hammer' Schultz - this weekend at Bally's Mountain Sports Bar. Call 609-340-2000, the bar is located inside the Wild, Wild West Casino in Atlantic City.

What To Expect: Down-home fun in a western city setting. A fun aesthetic combined with friendly bartenders and staff; you won't be able to help yourself from coming back, week after week.

Entertainment: Bally's Mountain Sports Bar prides itself on mixing live music with sports entertainment to keep you constantly entertained. Mountain Sports Bar hosts live DJs every Friday and Sports TV on Saturdays, along with live music and special events featuring legendary, sports figures. Check out the NFL Sunday night promotions.

Food and Drinks: "We offer a variety of bar-style food, all delicious, and all at an affordable cost," Dunlap says. For the purists among you, indulge in nightly $3 draft beer specials.

Claims To Fame: "What makes us famous with locals and people visiting Atlantic City is that we never have a cover, always have live entertainment in the summer and every weekend in the winter, and we offer value pricing on everything we serve," Dunlap boasts.
