While this is down the road, Rutgers announced a home-and-home series starting with UCLA in 2016.

The Scarlet Knights will host UCLA Sept., 1, 2016, which is the season opener for both teams. Then, in 2017, the Bruins will host Rutgers on Sept. 2.

"We are excited for our football program and especially for our fans to be playing UCLA," said Rutgers Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tim Pernetti in a press release. "This series will have tremendous national appeal anchored in the two largest media markets in the country."

The two teams have never faced and the trip in 2017 would mark just the second Rutgers football game in California. The Scarlet Knights played Cal in 1999.

Rutgers has an easy schedule this year, especially with its out-of-conference opponents. However, it seems in years to come that won't be the case. In 2014, the Scarlet Knights have a home-and-home series with Penn State, which will make for a nice regional rivalry game. Then, Rutgers gets two with UCLA.
