Izakaya debuts Japanese tapas, celebrity chef at Borgata
Published: Jul 03, 2008

Since Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa debuted 5 years ago, it has been a trendsetter in Atlantic City.

That will continue this weekend when Izakaya, the city's first Japanese tapas restaurant and nightclub, opens its doors.

The opening of Izakaya, a modern Japanese pub, will also debut Borgata's latest celebrity chef, Michael Schulson, who follows in the footsteps of Michael Mina, Wolfgang Puck and Bobby Flay, who all have restaurants at the casino. Schulson, known for his appearances on NBC's "Today" as well as the Style Network's "Pantry Raid," promises Izakaya will be something special.

"When I started this, I said that I don't want this to be the best restaurant in Atlantic City," Schulson says. "I want this to be the best restaurant in the country. And I mean that. We are going to have the best food from the Robatiyaki grill, the best sushi on the East Coast, amazing Japanese food out of the kitchen, and a nightlife/lounge scene that will be fun and exciting."
